Research shows that owning books makes a big difference to longer term outcomes in life. But not every child has this opportunity.
Our Pay it Forward scheme enables you to purchase a book for a child in far west NSW who does not experience a text-rich home environment.
We distribute our Pay it Forward books through other local community services that are engaged with families that have limited funds for purchasing books.
Where possible, we advocate for the child to choose their book, to encourage a sense of ownership of this valuable resource.
So, apart from the good feeling you’ll get from paying it forward, you’ll also be helping to give a child a better start in life.
You’ll be giving them a book to own for themselves, to write their name inside the cover, to dog-ear the pages and to read again and again.
How will you choose which book to pay forward? Perhaps it could be one that you remember from your own childhood? Maybe the cover looks enticing, or you recognise the author? Perhaps it could be a second copy of a book that your own child loves?
Whatever the reason for your choice, this is how it works:
